Close: Nvidia leads a broad advance, yields tick up

4:07 PM

Issue 47 · 5 min read

Green tape into the bell. The S&P added 0.22%, its fourth gain in five sessions, on breadth that actually backed it up — 289 advancers to 211 decliners on the NYSE.

“This wasn't a one-stock rally. Eight of eleven sectors closed green, and volume in financials was the heaviest since March.”
  • Nvidia +3.7% ahead of next week's print; options pricing a 6.8% move.
  • Super Micro -8.7% on a delayed 10-K — second delay this year.
  • 10-year yield up 3bps to 4.28% on a soft 30-year auction tail.

Tomorrow: jobless claims at 8:30, and three regional banks report before the bell.

See you at the close,

First thing I read before the open. The breadth number alone saves me from chasing green days that are really one stock.
